My Man...
Mother's Day is always enjoyable for me. I have just one request: to watch my man work in our yard, with his shirt off and a shovel in his hand. At least, I wrap it up under one request. And, I know I am not the only one who loves to see men at work.
This year I asked for a garden and a bird bath in our "bird garden". Let me tell ya, My Man delivered...He is truly going to have a hard time topping it!
My garden turned into lovely raised beds surrounded by pavers, which includes my clothesline. My bird bath became a little pond, fenced from the kiddos, big enough for a few large fish and some tadpoles. All of this happened over Mother's Day weekend AND we didn't buy anything for the hard scape! Everything you see in these pictures came from our yard. We scavenged for extra rock and pavers, used old fence pickets for the veggie beds and had an old pond liner from another pond we once had.
I spent this past weekend planting. When the sun began to go down, the moon rose and I continued along my merry way; plopping seeds and envisioning a garden where I snip here for my herbs and cut there for my peppers. This garden represents so many things for me...
Did I mention that Lance had been out of town, working in WY for 11 days, when he came home and plunged deep into this project? He spent his entire four days off working in our garden and then took off for another ten day tour in WY. I expect him home this weekend. I can't wait for him to see the garden planted and the fish comfortable in their new home. Yes, my man delivered. Every time I water the seeds and feed the fish, I am reminded of how much he loves me and how special our love is.
More photos of our weekend together.
Game Love...
My creative worlds mingle as I bring work home with me. A BackGammon board for a beautiful game table made by the talented craftsmen at Tribes Interiors. You can see in the picture here, I just pushed my sewing gear across the table and set up my paint.
I had so much fun with this project. My family loves to play BackGammon. Especially so while vacationing on the Oregon Coast with a storm raging outside my ocean view window. Nothing beats listening to the waves crash and having my family close to me...looking forward to our next trip to the beach, I'll be sure to pack our own 'Gammon Game.

Sew, Shovel Work...
Yep, I'm still here...just been enjoying time with my sewing machine and looking forward to Lance coming home today (after working in WY for 11 days). This weekend we are digging and planting our garden, my Mother's Day gift. Of course if you know me well, you will know that Mother's Day is not complete without a good show. You see, every year Lance must work in the yard on some project, there always is one, with his shirt off. I get to watch and drink my margaritas. Lots of shovel work to be done, and let me tell you, Lance can work a shovel! I can't think of a better Mother's Day gift...
Here are some photos of the sewing projects I have been working on lately...Memory Match Games and tote bags headed to Chicago for Shannon's library Summer Reading Challenge awards, very excited about this project. Also, my new "Receive and ReGift Bag", another great way to reduce, reuse and recycle. And, as Roxie is having a hard time at night keeping dry, I made cloth pull-ups with liners. Very cool and earth friendly...
